Search Method Analysis of Occurrence Data Call Drop in CDMA 2000-1x EV-DO Rev.A Network

Abstract
Drop call or drop data call is process of traffic channel termination either from Mobile Station (MS) or Base Transceiver Station (BTS) which not desired by consumer and caused by radio transmission or traffic network factor. High drop data call event will affect network performance. Thus, percentage of drop data call occurrence should be as minimal as possible. Smartfren’s connection drop rate KPI for drive test result is ??? 2.00% and for Cell Radio Drop Rate in OMC (Operation and Maintenance) statistic is ??? 1.00%.Drop data callis process of undesired traffic channel termination which frequently occur in cellular network andmust immediately repaired to keep reliability. Currently, it take a long time to find dozens or hundreds drop data call causes on drive test log file without any standard parameters as consideration which arranged neatly on flow chart. Using this method, 90 drop data call causes have been found from total 102 that occurred. Five main drop causes from Cluster 5 West Java region is coverage problem, overshooting problem, dominance problem, handoff failure and edge cell problem. With those five problems recovered, it has improved CDR (Connection Drop Rate) from 7.07% into 1.387% which is below than 2% (Smartfren’s KPI)
