Abstract
“The aim of this research is to explore the global competitive strategy is emphasized by Indonesian Ship Classification Society in order to cope with global competition. Questionnaire was distributed to 400 respondents as customer in ship industries throughout Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using mean-score, t-tests and SWOT analysis. Indonesian ship classification society has placed high emphasis on firm management such as customer, internal business process, growth and learning, leadership, product and service and finance. SWOT analysis determined variable of service, human resource and organization, finance and equipment on the strength score. On the other hand, low emphasis can be seen in innovation and global orientation indicators. Result shows that the competitive strategies between ship industries are significantly different in innovation and global orientation. With greater competition in global ship classification market emphasis on variable of firm management are insufficient. Indonesian ship classification society should give greater priority to dynamic capabilities, especially in innovation and global orientation in order to survive in marketplace.”
