Abstract
“PT Pindad (Persero), particularly in The Department of Alat dan Peralatan Kapal Laut (APKL) that produce ship components require adequate supplies of raw materials for the production process. Products that will be researched here is windlass. Issues raised in The Department of APKL is the planning is not optimal in determining the size of the raw material ordering. The impact of that is the high amount of raw material inventory in the warehouse. Based on that, then required a good inventory management in the handling of the raw materials.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP) are used as a way that proposed for the company. Two lot sizing techniques that proposed are algorithm wagner-within (AWW) and lot-for-lot (LFL). And the best technique that produces the minimum cost will be proposed to the company. In this study, the calculated components are components that included into A category based on ABC Analysis.
Based on the calculation of AWW and LFL, then found the number and the time of the optimal ordered. The optimal number of raw materials are ordered in general, required number of units for the month. Meanwhile, the optimal ordering time ranged from 2 weeks to 2 months. The best technique that produces the minimum cost is AWW technique.”
