Abstract

Biometric is identification technology system based on feature from specific physiological or behavioral characteristic as authentication, one of it is Palm vein recognition.Vein recognition is touchless in use, also vessels located under skin which difficult to copied, it become one of the safest biometric identification technologies[1]. Many aspect that can be modified in palm vein recognition system to increase their performance. One of them is preprocessing aspect. With right enhancement of palm vein image will ease feature extraction and feature matching. Some palm vein image has different complexity of noise by using adaptive filtering the difference can be minimized. Retinex method used for estimate illumination, in reality every authentication or image acquisition is done in different condition, time, light and temperature. Combining both methods can decrease the difference of vein image for every acquisition. . Experimental is applied on palm vein image 850nm and 940nm wavelength also comparing process with adapthisteq and combination of Adaptive filtering and Retinex Method.
