Competence Development Of Five Higher Education Lecture Atributs: A Study At Private University

Abstract

“Lecturer is one of the determinants factor of the teaching quality, education, and the successful development of the nation. Lecturer competence mapping in West Java Private University as a form of competence development and professionalism. This study discusses on lecturer competence atributs in higher education and teaching quality in private university. This study uses population of 554 lecturers. Probability kuota sampling technique is used on this study. The lecturer competence atribute are Paedagogic, Professionalism, Attitude, Knowledge, and Skill (AKS), Personality, and Social Competence. The results demonstrate lecturer personal competence is above the average. On the other side four of five competence are below average.
The five competence of lecture atribute is improved from Lancaster Model which only has one competence (Attitude, Knowledge, and Skill). However, the five competence atribute has to be developed further as a new competence framework of lecturer competence.”
