Abstract

“This study is a systematic empirical investigation on the reluctance in investing IPv6 in Indonesia using model that was proposed by Bajnath. Bajnath???s model proposes five factors that can reflect the reluctance of organizations toward IPv6 adoption. Those are governmental support/sponsorship (sponsor), network effect of the Internet (network), availability of IPv6 information (info), number IPv6 testbed (test), and cost in modifying legacy applications (cost).
The model has been confirmed and proven able to measure and reflect the reluctance of organization toward IPv6 adoption. Reliability and validity evaluation results show that the variables can measure the construct positively and consistently. The goodness of fit is also categorized as good fit because from fourteen criteria, only four that cannot fulfill the cut off. Thus, the model can be stated as good fit as a construct and can be applied in Indonesia. The comparison analysis also shows the similarities between both researches.
Our finding show that there are differences and similarities of loading factors results between this research in Indonesia and Bajnath???s research in Netherland on the indicators that are the most important in explaining the latent variable. The dissimilarities shows no specific pattern. We conclude that the reluctance in investing in IPv6 model applied for both countries is consistent.
This empirical study would have benefit in practice as a recommendation for improvements in accelerating adoption of IPv6 in Indonesia. It however needs to further work in enriching the research in budgeting and costing in adopting IPv6, providing the security issues information in media, creating awareness on IPv6 in internet environment, and formulating policy and regulation that encourage the stakeholders to adopt IPv6.”
